Let the games begin

Good morning my neighbors!... movie reference (anyone get it?). Ok, I'll try to be a little serious about this. 5 days or so until a good ol' CrossFit competition, so preparing for that and everything that comes with it.

So, has anyone out there ever entered a competition? Let me tell you, there is nothing like it. A normal day in the box you may be able to move so fast, and lift x-amount of weight... but when you have a crowd cheering you on to finish, you find something inside that you didn't know you had.

I've seen many interviews with CrossFit Games champs and competitors. They all at least mention that there is your daily WOD, and then there's competition... and its something that you just can't simulate. You may be able to do the WODs at an earlier or later date, but it doesn't compare to the thrill of the competition. Some people will say that they actually find where their limit is, and only there.

Now, I'm not necessarily saying that everyone needs to go out and compete. If you do decide to enter, which it shouldn't be something you do on a whim, I would go to suggest that you take your training seriously. Make sure your eating well, getting PLENTY of rest and recovery, and training safely. As well, during the competition, you want to push yourself... just not to any breaking point. But the most important thing, above anything else, have fun!

So that's pretty much it. Just wanted to ramble a little with the upcoming local throwdown. If you're around, come and cheer people on (or me). But if nothing else train well, stretch good... and do burpees.
